Installing this unit at a commercial location? I have to admit, I was a little worried at first when buying from an online store I’d never heard of before. What finally made me pull the trigger was seeing that these guys sell on two reputable big name sites – Amazon and Newegg – and I’d been eyeing up computers on one or the other for weeks waiting for my income taxes to come back.
My worry was for nothing. I’m now almost a month in with my lovely HP Z620, the machine I’d been eyeing first on Amazon (where I would have purchased it for nearly the same price with no hard drive or operating system for very nearly the same price I paid getting it direct from PCSP) and then on Newegg where I’d found it mildly cheaper with hard drive and OS but a little less RAM than I really wanted, before that model ‘sold out’ prior to the time I had funding available. What can I say, I was researching my purchase well before time knowing I didn’t want to wait long once I could buy it.
As I said. My worry was for nothing. A month in, and this computer is all I could have hoped for. These guys know what they’re doing.
They package with care. I had trouble getting it out of the box, such care was taken in packing it!
I’m exceptionally glad I did make the decision to do the ‘custom build’ over going with the ‘no HD/OS’ version on Amazon, because even though I’ve been playing with computer towers for a good 20 years, and I figure I’m no slouch when it comes to installing things like hard drives, having it done for me seems to be a godsend. In the end my regret is I didn’t go all out and have secondary HD’s installed. I figured I could add more later (I have several laying around, including a 2 tb SSD I’d hoped to use.) Sadly I’ve had no luck, as Windows doesn’t seem to want to recognize some of these newer internals. In the meantime, I’ve got plenty of externals hooked up. My only other regret is not going higher on the RAM, because even though I know how to install it, and figured ‘how difficult can it be’, once I got a good look inside the machine (first thing I did after arrival was to take a look inside, of course) I realized it might be just a little more complicated than I thought.
But now I know for next time.
However, my install of two additional USB cards went off without a hitch (what can I say, I’m a peripheral junkie.) They’re both working just fine, and now I’ve got a bunch of extra USB 2.0 and 3.0 slots.
But if I were to give anyone considering buying one of these machines any advice, here it is.
Add all the ram you want from the get go. I went with 96 GB, and its blazing fast. But a part of me does regret not going whole hog for the 128 max they'd have installed.
Add all the hard drive space you want from the get go as well. I went with a one tb SSD for my primary, and if I had it to do over again, I’d add some old school 6tb’s (the highest they seem to offer) in the three additional slots this computer holds. The SSD is a must though for the primary, because it’ll reduce Window’s load time.
In the end, I can't say enough about the seller. PC Server and Parts Certified Refurbished did a solid. I ordered this workstation with Windows 10 home version - that's what I paid for - and when it arrived, I discovered they'd thrown in Win 10 pro, which was a nice little bonus. The machine was clean. A very small amount of dust likely from my unpacking. They also emailed early on to check on me, and while I haven't really replied, mostly because I wanted to put the machine through some paces first and let it's dust settle so to speak, I'm confident I'll be happy with this beauty for some time.
Today I played a PS5 level graphics game on it. That says something.
Eventually, I’ll be a return customer. I’ve got a teenager who was amazed at watching me play that PS5 level game who hasn’t been happy with her laptop for quite some time, and when I’m ready to upgrade her (I’m going to play with this beauty just a little longer to see how it holds up, of course), I plan to custom build her a machine as well.
Thanks, for all your hard work on getting me an amazing machine, and for all the care you put into it.
