The Dell PowerEdge R650 (Dell R650) is the dense 1U member of Dell’s 15th generation — the same Ice Lake platform as the R750, packed into half the rack space. PC Server & Parts builds refurbished R650 servers to order: pick a chassis, configure CPUs, RAM, and NVMe or SAS storage, and we test the complete build before it ships with a free 1-year warranty. Every chassis opens a Build-Your-Own configurator — choose CPUs, memory, drives, and networking, and we assemble and test the complete server before it ships. Don’t see the layout you need? Request a quote.
The R650 shines where rack density matters: virtualization and container hosts, high-frequency trading and low-latency applications, scale-out database nodes, and NVMe-backed storage tiers. Two 40-core CPUs and 32 memory channels in 1U make it a favorite for co-location deployments where every U counts against the power bill.
Every refurbished R650 from PCSP is inspected, burn-in tested under load, and assembled to your spec in our Michigan facility. Free shipping on orders over $35 in the lower 48, free 1-year warranty extendable to 5 years, and volume pricing on multi-node orders.
The R650xs is the cost-optimized variant: it caps at 16 DIMM slots (up to 1 TB), supports CPUs up to 32 cores, and trims NVMe options. For most general-purpose workloads the xs saves money; choose the full R650 when you need maximum memory or NVMe-direct bays.
Up to 12× 2.5″ drives depending on chassis: 8-bay and 10-bay SAS/SATA backplanes, a 10-bay NVMe-direct option for all-flash builds, and a 12-bay configuration. All our chassis variants are listed above with configurators.
Yes — a two-generation jump from the R630 or one from the R640 roughly doubles core counts per U, moves memory to DDR4-3200 with 32 slots, and adds PCIe Gen4/NVMe-direct. Consolidating two older 1U hosts into one R650 is a common and cost-effective refresh path.
Every configured Dell R650 ships with a free 1-year PCSP warranty covering replacement parts, labor, and shipping on covered failures. Coverage can be extended to up to 5 years at checkout, and on-site service tiers (8×5 next-business-day and 24×7×4) are available for production environments.
Every chassis links to a configurator where you select processors, RAM, storage, and networking, and each build is assembled and tested in our Michigan facility. Need something the configurator doesn’t show — specific drives, GPUs, an OS pre-install, or a bulk order? Submit a quote request and we’ll put the exact spec together.
