Refurbished 1U rack servers — maximum compute in minimum rack space. One rack unit (1.75″) tall, these are the workhorses of virtualization clusters, web farms, and colocation racks: Dell PowerEdge R630, R640, R650, R660, HPE ProLiant DL360, single-socket AMD EPYC platforms, and more — custom-configured, tested, and warrantied.

Rack space costs money — colocation is billed by the U. A 1U server delivers two full CPU sockets, terabytes of RAM, and 8–10 NVMe/SAS/SATA bays in the smallest standard footprint. Stack a full 42U cabinet and you get over 40 dual-socket nodes. The trade-off vs 2U servers: fewer drive bays and PCIe slots, and smaller (louder) fans — which is why 1U is the data-center pick, not the office pick (for quiet office servers, see tower servers).
Every PCSP 1U server is custom-configured to your spec, fully tested, backed by a 1-year warranty (extendable to 5), and ships fast from the US.
A 1U server occupies one rack unit — 1.75 inches (44.45 mm) of vertical space in a standard 19-inch rack. It is the densest standard server form factor: dual CPUs, up to a few terabytes of RAM, and 8–10 drive bays in a single U.
The Dell PowerEdge R640 and HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10 are the most-deployed refurbished 1U servers — dual Xeon Scalable CPUs, large DDR4 capacity, and proven reliability at a fraction of new pricing.
Pick 1U when rack space is the constraint and your storage is external (SAN/NAS/cloud) — virtualization hosts, web and application tiers, HPC nodes. Pick 2U when you need many local drives, GPUs, or extra PCIe expansion.
Most 1U servers are 27–31 inches deep and use small high-RPM fans, so they are designed for server rooms, not offices. If noise matters, choose a tower server or a 2U platform with larger fans.
Yes. Any 1U server not currently in stock is available to configure by quote — we will build it to your CPU, RAM, and storage spec and price it usually within hours.
