Used & Refurbished Cisco Nexus 9000 Switches

Cisco Nexus 9000 is Cisco’s data center switch family: Nexus 9300 and 9200 top-of-rack switches and Nexus 9408, 9504, 9508 and 9516 chassis. Configure power, airflow, line cards and optics online and we quote the full build.

Used Cisco Nexus 9000 switches, configured to order

Cisco Nexus 9000 is Cisco’s data center switch family running NX-OS (or ACI). It has two halves: fixed top-of-rack switches (Nexus 9300 and 9200 — 1/10/25G server ports with 40/100G or 400G uplinks) and modular chassis (Nexus 9504, 9508 and 9516, plus the 4RU Nexus 9408) that take line cards, fabric modules and supervisors.

PCSP sells used and refurbished Nexus 9000 switches as complete configurations. Pick a model below, then choose power supplies, fans and airflow direction, line cards and fabric modules on the chassis, transceivers and cables by Cisco part number, and warranty; a sales representative replies with a quote for exactly that build. Every switch is tested before it ships and carries a 1-year PCSP warranty, extendable up to 5 years. For many Nexus parts there is no new supply left: the 93180YC-EX and 93108TC-EX reached end of sale in 2022, and Cisco’s last date of support for them is August 31, 2027.

Port counts are from Cisco’s Nexus 9000 data sheets; chassis port counts depend on the line cards you choose. Older Nexus 2000, 3000 and 5000 units in stock are listed with prices below.

Optics and cables by part number

Each Nexus configuration lists the transceivers and cables that model supports, by Cisco part number, with the quantity capped at the number of ports. The lists follow Cisco’s transceiver compatibility for each model:

What the configurator checks

  • Airflow. Fans and power supplies come in port-side intake and port-side exhaust versions; mixing them in one switch is the most common ordering mistake. The configurator flags a mismatch.
  • Slots and ports. Line cards, fabric modules and supervisors are counted against the chassis slots, and optics against the ports of the model.
  • Minimums. Required parts such as power supplies and fan trays start at the minimum quantity for that model.

Licensing, software and support: what transfers

  • Nexus 9000 licenses are not enforced. Cisco’s Smart Licensing Using Policy guide states that unenforced is the only enforcement type on Nexus 9000 and 3000, and features remain fully functional.
  • Perpetual DCN licenses do not move between devices, and ACI mode requires an APIC controller.
  • Cisco warranty and SmartNet do not transfer. Cisco support on a secondary-market switch requires Cisco’s paid hardware inspection and relicensing. Instead, every PCSP switch carries our own warranty.
  • NX-OS downloads from Cisco require a service contract. Tell us which version you need in the quote request.

PCSP is not a Cisco authorized reseller.

How ordering works

  1. Configure. Choose the model, power and airflow, line cards or modules, optics and warranty.
  2. Request a quote. Submit the build; a sales representative replies with pricing for that exact configuration and quantity.
  3. We build and test. The switch is assembled to your configuration and tested before it ships.

Frequently asked questions

Do you sell used Cisco Nexus 9000 switches?
Yes. PCSP sells used and refurbished Nexus 9300 and 9200 top-of-rack switches and Nexus 9408, 9504, 9508 and 9516 chassis as complete builds. You choose power, airflow, modules, optics and warranty online, and we quote that configuration. Each switch is tested before it ships and carries a 1-year PCSP warranty, extendable up to 5 years.
Why is there no price on the Nexus configurator?
The price of a Nexus switch depends on airflow, power supplies, line cards, optics and quantity, so we quote the full build instead of listing one base price. Submit your configuration and a sales representative replies with pricing.
Do used Nexus 9000 switches need a license to work?
No license is enforced on Nexus 9000. Cisco’s Smart Licensing Using Policy documentation states that features remain fully functional. Perpetual DCN licenses do not transfer between devices, and ACI mode needs an APIC controller.
What is the difference between EX, FX, FX2, FX3 and GX?
They are successive ASIC generations of the Nexus 9300. EX is the first 25G generation (end of sale in 2022, last date of support August 31, 2027); FX, FX2 and FX3 add features and longer support; GX adds 400G ports. The port layout of a model, such as 48× 25G plus 6× 100G on the 93180YC, stays the same across generations.
What does port-side intake and port-side exhaust mean?
It is the airflow direction of the fans and power supplies. Port-side exhaust blows air out of the port side and suits racks where the ports face the hot aisle; port-side intake is the reverse. All fans and power supplies in one switch must match, and the configurator checks this.
Can I get Cisco SmartNet on a used Nexus?
Cisco warranty and service contracts do not transfer to a secondary-market owner. Cisco offers support only after its paid hardware inspection and relicensing. Our switches carry a PCSP warranty instead: 1 year standard, extendable up to 5 years, with on-site options.
