Workstations

Refurbished Workstations Available Today

This shelf is deliberately deep, because a workstation purchase is usually a seat count rather than a single machine. In August 2026 we hold about 700 in-stock workstation configurations, spread almost evenly across three vendors: roughly 245 Dell Precision, 260 HP Z-series and 165 Lenovo ThinkStation, plus a few compact Dell OptiPlex desktops. More than 500 of those listings name a discrete graphics card in the title — most often an NVIDIA Quadro — so the card in the title is the card that arrives, not a placeholder to be negotiated later.

  • Chassis: overwhelmingly full towers, with a thin selection of small-form-factor desktops for cramped desks and reception counters.
  • Money: priced systems start around $125 for an entry tower and run past $6,000 for dual-socket flagships. The middle half sits between roughly $550 and $1,500, which is where most CAD and editing seats land.
  • Depth per model: the heaviest benches right now are the HP Z4 G4, Dell Precision 5820, Lenovo ThinkStation P520 and HP Z840 — enough units of each to fill a room with matching hardware.

Counted August 2026. Availability turns over constantly; treat these figures as the shape of the inventory, not a promise, and read the live grid above for today's truth.

Start with the Socket Count, Not the Model Name

Nearly every workstation decision collapses into one question: does the job scale across many slow cores, or does it want a few fast ones?

  • Single-socket towers — Precision 5820, HP Z4 G4, ThinkStation P520. Higher clocks per core, lower idle power, quieter. The right answer for parametric CAD, most engineering seats and single-threaded simulation.
  • Dual-socket towersPrecision 7920, HP Z8 G4, ThinkStation P920. Core counts and memory ceilings that consumer boards cannot reach, plus room for two full-size accelerators. Render nodes, simulation, model training.
  • Budget benchesHP Z440, Precision 5810, HP Z2 G4. Older silicon, ECC memory, real expansion — still a better buy than a new consumer desktop at the same money.
  • Current generationThinkStation P5 and P620 Threadripper PRO when PCIe Gen4/Gen5 bandwidth is the binding constraint.

Or Choose by the Software on the Desk

If you already know the application, skip the spec sheet: our use-case pages pair specific machines to specific software, including CAD and CAM, video editing, AI and machine learning and Windows 11-ready builds. Browse by vendor instead through Dell Precision, HP Z-series or Lenovo ThinkStation, and for lighter office duty look at plain refurbished computers instead.

Why This Differs from a New Purchase or a Marketplace Listing

Buying new means waiting on a configure-to-order queue and paying list price for a machine whose GPU you will replace anyway. Buying from a marketplace means trusting a photograph. What happens here sits between the two:

  • Each unit is disassembled, inspected, cleaned and rebuilt to the memory, storage and graphics spec you select, then stress-tested before it is boxed.
  • ECC memory, workstation-class power delivery and vendor GPU support come with the platform — that is the point of buying a workstation rather than a desktop.
  • Systems carry a free 1-year warranty on parts, labour and shipping, with extensions to five years offered at checkout.
  • If it turns out to be the wrong machine, our 90-day return window applies, subject to an RMA and a restocking fee on non-defective returns.
  • Ground shipping is free on orders over $35 to the contiguous US, and orders placed before 1:00 pm EST can leave the same day.

Outfitting a Team or a Lab

Matched hardware across a department is easier to support than a drawer of one-offs, and it is what we are set up to supply. Tell us the seat count, the applications and the GPU you want standardised on through the quote request form. A specialist confirms the spec within one business day, a detailed quote follows in 24–48 hours, and a competing written offer will be matched.

Refurbished Workstation FAQ

Is a refurbished workstation better value than a new consumer PC?

At equal money, usually yes for professional work. A refurbished Xeon-class tower brings ECC memory, more PCIe lanes, more drive bays and a professional GPU, against a new consumer machine of the same price with none of those. The trade is generation age: you are buying proven silicon rather than the newest.

Can I specify the graphics card?

On configurable listings the GPU is one of the options on the product page, alongside CPU, memory and storage. Finished units ship with the card named in the listing title. If you need a specific card that is not offered, ask through the quote form and we will check the parts network.

Will these run Windows 11?

Newer platforms — Precision 5820 and 7920, HP Z4 G4 and Z8 G4, ThinkStation P520 and P920 and later — meet the Windows 11 requirements. Older E5-era towers generally do not. Our Windows 11 workstation page lists the models we confirm as eligible.

Does the warranty cover the graphics card too?

Yes. Every component inside a unit we configure is covered by the free 1-year warranty, including the GPU, for parts, labour and shipping both ways. Components bought loose, without a system, are not covered under it.

Can you supply twenty identical seats?

That is a normal order for us, and several models on this page have that much depth in stock. Send the target build and quantity through the quote request so we can reserve matching units and confirm lead time.
