Server Cables — SAS, NVMe, GPU Power and AC Cords
Internal cables for Dell PowerEdge and HPE ProLiant servers and new Supermicro cables: PERC-to-backplane and mini-SAS HD cables, NVMe and PCIe assembly cables, SlimSAS and OCuLink cables, GPU power cables, plus 6-foot AC power cords. Most internal cables are made for a specific chassis and drive bay layout, so they are listed by server model and OEM part number.
Matching a Cable
- Server and bay layout: the same server can use different cables for 4, 8, 10 or 24 bays and for SAS, SATA or NVMe backplanes. Match the part number to your configuration.
- NVMe port groups: NVMe upgrades on servers such as the Dell R640 and R650 use separate cables for each group of bays (for example ports 0–1, 2–5 and 6–9). Order every group your backplane needs.
- Connectors: check both ends: Mini-SAS HD (SFF-8643), SlimSAS (SFF-8654) or OCuLink (SFF-8611). Length matters for routing inside the chassis.
- GPU power: server GPU power cables are specific to the server, such as Dell 12-pin to 8-pin for the R750 and R7525. A desktop PSU cable is not a substitute.
- AC power cords: NEMA 5-15P to IEC C13 cords fit standard US outlets and the C14 inlet used on most server and workstation power supplies.

Quick Answers: Buying from PCSP
Which cable do I need to connect my RAID controller to the backplane?
It depends on the server, the number of bays and the controller. Dell PERC cables, for example, differ between an R630 8-bay and an R730xd 12-bay. Find the part number in your server, or send us the model and bay count and we will match it.
What do I need to add NVMe drives to a Dell R640?
An NVMe-capable backplane, the NVMe cable set for each group of bays, and an NVMe controller or riser that the drives connect to. The cable listings name the bays they serve; ask us if you are unsure which set your build needs.
Will these power cords work with my server?
The 6-foot NEMA 5-15P to C13 cords fit a standard US outlet and the C14 inlet found on most server, workstation and monitor power supplies. They also come in lots of 2 and 4.
