Server Riser Cards — PCIe Risers, Riser Cages and Kits
Riser cards turn the slots on a server motherboard into the PCIe slots your cards actually plug into. We carry risers for Dell PowerEdge R640, R740/R740xd and R840, riser cages and rear drive kits for HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 and Gen10, Lenovo ThinkSystem SR530/SR630 risers, Supermicro WIO and M.2 riser cards, GPU expansion boards, and the second-CPU riser boards for HP Z640 and HP Z6 G4 workstations.
Matching a Riser
- Model and position: risers are numbered by position (Riser 1, 2, 3) and differ between servers. An R640 Riser 1 does not fit an R740, so match the part number in the listing to your system and slot.
- Slot width and height: check how many x16 and x8 slots the riser gives you and whether they take full-height or low-profile cards.
- Adding a GPU or NVMe: a GPU usually needs an x16 riser plus a server-specific GPU power cable; M.2 and NVMe risers need a free slot with the right lane count.
- Cage or bare board: some listings include the cage and bracket, others are the board alone. The title says which.

Quick Answers: Buying from PCSP
Will a riser from a different server model fit mine?
Usually not. Riser part numbers are specific to the server model and to the riser position, even within one vendor. Use the part number from your server or its documentation, or send us the model and we will look it up.
Do I need a new riser to add a GPU to my server?
Often yes. Full-length GPUs typically need an x16 riser, a power cable made for that server, and sometimes a different air shroud. Check that your server model supports the card first; we can tell you which parts the upgrade takes.
How do I add a second CPU to an HP Z640 or Z6 G4?
On these workstations the second processor and its memory slots sit on a riser board. You need the riser (the Z6 G4 board is listed with its heatsink), a matching second CPU and memory for the new slots.
What if a riser arrives faulty or does not fit?
Riser cards bought on their own carry a 90-day warranty, and you can return them within 90 days of purchase with an RMA. Restocking terms for parts ordered in error are on our return policy page.
